The Colombo - a foodie one stop shop

Good news for all those foodies out there who lunch around SOMO (South of Moorhouse) on a regular basis. The Colombo in Sydenham (363 Colombo St) is fast becoming a foodie ones stop shop for lots of different treats. Over the last few years the whole mall has been revamped and rebranded (use to be the old Spotlight Centre), with some well known key tenants moving in. The food hall has evolved with an eclectic range of tenants selling everything from bangers & mash through to macarons and lots of delicacies in between.

My favourites include J'aime les Macarons - who sell scrumptious macarons in just about every flavour under the sun. They also have a shop in Normans Road and produce some of the best macarons I've tasted anywhere.

Check out Coopers & Co with a range of lunch time treats that are worthy of very serious consideration. I can't go past their bangers & mash, gourmet pies, or paris brest. They also have a specialist deli with shelves and a chiller full of deli items for the home cook in a rush.

If you are after a serious coffee hit with your lunch, Underground Coffee is the place to be seen. They do cafe style food with a twist in an off beat retro style at the Colombo St entrance of the mall.

And for those sandwich aficionados out there - the Serious Sandwich does an excellent job creating gourmet sandwiches for the discerning palate.

There's also sushi and freshly squeezed juices, plus it seems new stores are opening on a regular basis - so time to check it all out.
